Rolling on the River

We got home last night about 8:00pm after dropping off the 3 Grandkids that we took with us to the River for Memorial Day holiday. We were there for 5 days and got all of the boats back in the water and running, only needed 1 new battery, the others all charged back up, I don't know if any of you have bought a new battery charger recently but they now have what is called Smart Chargers which have a micro chip in them that tells you the level of charge going in and the percent of charge in the battery, but the best thing thay have is a desulfate setting. Most batterys go bad because sulfates that are desolved in the battery acid form a substance in the battery that shorts out the plates. These new battery chargers will run a high freq. electrical current thru the battery and cause the sulfates to go back into the liquid. I was able to restore 3 battery's that would have been thrown away otherwise.

Fishing was hot and cold, we did catch 1 big 4lbs+ big mouth bass, what a pig that thing was. most of the time we just loaded up the photoon boat and headed for a big sand bar up river and drank a few beers and played Horse Shoes, and watched the guys with the big fast boats try to outdo each other. Had to buy gas at the boat dock one day---OUCH---it was $3.99 a gallon and you had to provide your own oil.

We will be home for a while now at least a week, we made plans some time ago to meet friends at a spot on the coast up above Santa Barbara, we will be there for a week or so, all depends on how the Surf Fishing is going. We like to park the MH in a good spot and then use the Suzuki Samurai to tour the area all the way up to Moro Bay, and to Solvang, we like to check out the little shops in Lompock and of course the Super Wal-Mart.

Later

Go LAKER's

  1. Sounds like you had a good trip and looks like the next one will be great. I love bass fishing and surf fishing . . . guess I love just about any kind of fishing. Glad you had a save trip and got home safe. Thanks for the info on the chargers.
