I think I mentioned yesterday that I worked some more on the Blazer which has not been running well for a while. The first little bolt that I took off fell down into the pully area in front of the motor I thought. I got a flashlight and searched high & low and could not find it, so I continued on my merry way. I took off the intake manifold and replaced some parts in the fuel injector, and then put it all back together, including a new bolt to replace the one I lost.Went around and fired her up and she only turned over one revolution and stopped. Now I know where that little lost bolt is. Some how that bolt hung around until I opened up that intake system then it jumped into the engine on top of a piston. So now I need to find out which cylinder it's hiding in and try to fish it out through the sparkplug hole or off come the heads. I hate it when a plan falls apart---I don't have time in my life to play Billy Bob the shade tree mechanic. but you and I both know that I'm not going to pay some shop $85.00 per hour to have a minimum wage guy twisting wrench's on my stuff. So tomorrow I will start the process, there may be photos to follow along with. Can you hear me kicking myself now.
my dad always used to tell me to stick a rag in the manifold as soon as you take the cover off. It saved me a few times
ReplyDeleteget a magnet on the end of a telescopic tube and stick it in the spark plug hole until you feel the nut/bolt
Got a flexible magnet grabber thing, IF the part is steel that is. Just feeling for you and trying to help.
ReplyDeleteThanks OGT & Ben for the support. I'm going to Harbor Freight first thing in the morning to look for a small flexible magnet thingy, wish me luck
