It's been a while since I posted.  Been busy trying to keep up with kids and their kids. Our oldest daughter has 4 kids 5 years to 16 years old and they are all involved in some kind of sports program. This means that if you go to watch one of them play then you have to go watch all of the others games, and the live about 100+ miles away. That will take up about a week of good nap time, then it takes 3 days to get rested up from all of the walking involved.

Last week we took the motorhome & toad and headed up toward Big Bear in the mountains about 6000ft elevation to a campground called Seven Oaks. It is located on the begening of the Santa Ana River which at this point is only about 10 ft wide. We were there 3 days and each day we took off in the Suzuki Samurai to check out the other attractions in the area. spent one day touring the area around Big Bear Lake, man there are some expensive homes on that lake. The road down into the campground is very long and steep so Lana drove the Samurai out to the Highway about 3-4 miles, that made it easier on the motorhome. She was a little scared because it has been years since she drove a stick shift. she got it into 2nd and motored right on out.
We belong to a camping group that was having a weekend campout at a campground near Hemet so once I was down from the mountain I punched in the campout address into the Garmin GPS and away we went. Got there around 2:00 and go set up in time for a beverage or two with friends. We left on Sunday morning about 11:00.

Our son Keith has started a new hobby, Boat Racing, He has always had fast boats and loved to race anyone he could. he has always had outboards with Mercury motors on them. Recently he got involved in a group that have started a class of racing classic outboard Runabouts (COR).His class is limited to 2 liter motors which basically are Mercury 150 hp motors. they can be bored over .30, carbs to remain stock. flywheels stock mercury(mercury did make an aluminum flywheel if you can find one it is legal) The class is restricted to 80's mph and you must run a GPS that recalls highist speed. top 3 boats are weighted and must be over 1550 lbs with driver and gear.

Back during the spring our son (keith) bought a Baker Tunnel hull that is 18'6" it needed a new transum and the bottom needed to be straightened. some $$ later and it's ready to go. strip the interior and move the controls to the center and mount a center seat. He found a damaged Mercury motor that was rebuildable and bought it. He had met a guy in Tn that was a race engine builder so he shipped the power hear to him for a full on race build,(it's legal). His first race was 2 weeks ago at the Long Beach Sprint Nationals and he did really good for a rookey. He finished 7th out of 9 boats. all of our family and friends were there and had a great time.2 SIL and I were the pit crew along with a 16 year old grandson who was in 2nd heaven being around fast and loud boats, and being part of the pit scene. His next race is 9-14-15 in Mission Bay San Diego area. We will not get to attend because we have paid for camping on the ocean above Santa Barbara for that week. The next race is a 363 mile enduro on the Colorado River north of Parker Az on 10-25,26 &27 looking forward to that race.
