It's about time I updated my Blog.  Seems like all I do is read other peoples stuff and wonder about why I can't think of cleaver things to write about.  I seem to end up reading Blogs from people that are off grid out in the boonies somewhere. those are really fun to follow but I don't think I want to do that, It would be great to live there with a power pole and play at the off grid life style.

I remember when we first got our property on the River, it was overgrown with brush and trees.  I hand cleared a space to park the motorhome under the largest tree on the property.  We hauled water and dumped our holding tanks in a neighbors septic tank for the first year. The first thing we did was have the property cleared by a Doser then we put in a power pole. Later that winter we had a Mobile Home delivered and then the work began on hooking it up. I hired a neighbor guy with a old ford backhoe to dig the trenches for the sewer lines and the septic tank but I did all of the installation after long hours of research and drawings. I found a 1000 gal septic concrete tank setting out in the country where it had been removed by a farmer and bought it from him for $200, I then paid a guy with a truck that delivered septic tanks to pick it up and set it in my spot, sweet deal.

Now all we need is water. In this area it is all sandy soil so you can drive a Sand Point down to about 24 ft (2-10ft 11/4" pipe plus a 4ft Sand Point) I waited until a holiday when our son had a bunch of his friends there and then add some cute girls and those boys will kill themselves trying to impress the girls with how strong and tuff the were. about 4 hours later we had a working well. That well lasted for over 20 years and had to be abandon last year. a new 2" well cost almost $1000.

Our youngest daughter and her husband just closed escrow on a home they bought. The wife and I have been helping them with cleanup and painting and meeting carpet and flooring crews as well as plumbers and electric guys. They wanted the washer & dryer moved to a different spot in the garage so water and power also had to be moved. I spent most of the afternoon yesterday pressure washing the rear of the house along with the pool deck. The old owners had dogs that rubbed along the house and caused marks on the wall that had to be cleaned off so new paint will stick better. We were there yesterday for a tree trimming crew to cut back a giant tree and grind it up, sure looks naked now.

We had a big group at the River place over the holiday and we went Dove hunting each morning and evening, well the Doves must have got the notice that hunting season was starting because we got skunked the first morning. It seems that for the 2 weeks before opening day there were a lot of high wind and rain storms which caused the Dove to head south to Mexico for the winter, that's why the call it hunting and not getting.

I had planned to post photos with this buy have misplaced or lost my new camera.

  1. Glad to see a blog from you. It was obvious that your blog was missing but I had no idea what the reason was. Now I know and relieved that you are alright. Bloggers seem to become family.
