YEOW

On Sunday evening as I was getting ready for bed I took my 3 meds and a vitamin. I always take my meds at night so I will not forget them and because one of them I need to have something on my stomach. Well a short time later I started to get an upset stomach but didn't think anything more about it, about 30 mins later I had sever stomach cramps and thought that maybe it was something I had eaten, but the wife ate the same things and no problem. I tossed and turned all night as the cramps eased off.

Monday morning the cramps were down to about a 2 and we went to breakfast with 3 other couples. I just kind of picked at mt food as I was not hungry. Afterwards we went home and I just set around and played on the puter.....but those cramps were still there. I thought at the time that maybe it's my Appendix, I know that when your Appendix goes bad you have sever pain in the right abdomen which I did not have. I just passed it off as a flu bug or something. As I was getting ready for bed the pain had moved to my right abdomen and was about a 3.

Tuesday morning my wife Lana had a Dr. appointment early for some yearly stress tests and I had one at 10:00 with my Dr. for a yearly review, by this time the pain level is up to about a 5-6 level on the right side. I mentioned the issue to my Dr. and he did an exam and told me to go straight to the Emergency room at the Hospital across the street from his office, he wanted to call an Ambulance for me but I told him I could walk. I went back and told my wife that I was going to the Hospital and to come and check on me there.

The Dr. must have called the hospital because they were waiting for me when I arrived, I got to bypass everyone in the lobby and they started preping me for a Cat scan, I had to drink a 30oz cup of Iodine laced punch and then wait 2 hrs to do the Cat Scan, the Dr. came in and told me it was my Appendix and that they were contacting the Dr. that would do the surgery but did not know when it would be. well the Dr. showed up and said he would do it about 7:30 that evening, I woke up in post op at 8:10 and spent the night at the Hospital, they released me at about 10:30 Wednesday morning with pain meds to be taken 4 times a day, as long as I don't move I'm ok.As a side note the Hospital we use is St. Joseph Medical Center and it is one of the larger facilities in the county. The Dr. said they average  3 appendix operations per day,  they did it Ortho Scopicly, so all I have is 3 little holes in my tummy that were closed with some type of super glue.

Yall take care

  1. Glad you got that out of the way. I still have mine, but about eight years ago I did have a light case but didn't need surgery and it didn't burst, thank goodness.
