We met friends at a campground in Desert Hot Springs before Valentines day and stayed thru Sunday, most of the time the wind blew hard enough that you had to hang onto the door when you went outside. On Saturday night I got up to take a leak and for some reason I checked the fluid levels, what I saw was that the batteries were down to 11.6 volts, that can't be because we are hooked up to power, I suspected that they were going south due to age and that I let them get low on water.
I had several options, #1 was to drive back home where I have a place that I can buy Trojan T105 6volt batteries for $20 each, they are used but in good condition and will last about 4 years.
#2 was to replace the 2 weak batteries, but I hate to mix old and new stuff because the old stuff causes the new to go bad quicker.
#3 is to replace all 4 batteries with new stuff and be done with it.
I reasoned that if I drove the 100 miles back home and spent $80 on used batteries then I had to drive back to the area we were in because our daughter and son-in-law had asked us to join them in Ocatillo wells on the following Thursday for a weekend of M/C riding and just enjoying the Grand Kids.
I checked with Sam's Club and they had Energizer 6 volt GC batteries on sale for $78 each so I wheeled in and about 1 hour later we were on our way south on HW 86s below Indio. about half way to Salten City we found a nice little camp ground and stayed until thursday morning Wensday evening it started raining and rained all night, when we got up Thursday morning the Mountains all around us were covered in snow. we headed out for Ocatillo Wells, we enjoyed all of the visiting with a lot of the people that we had not seen in a long time but on Monday we loaded up and was headed down the dirt road when the phone rang and it was friends Jerry & Sue from Iowa who just happened to be Boondocking near Borrego Springs, this just happens to be about 30 miles from where we were at, so we stopped at a campground and dumped our tanks and loaded up on water and joined them until Yesterday. we got home just at dark, today has been wash this vacumm that and strip the beds. I still have some small items to get done tomorrow and then get it back into storage.

Sounds like you had a good trip despite the batteries.
