TIS THE SEASON

Been busy this week getting out all of the Christmas lights and decorations. Every year I say "I'm never going to do this again" but then when December rolls around your out in the yard trying to remember which string of lights goes on which bush. For many years we built all kinds of animated scenes, One year it would be Micky & Minny Mouse and all of the Disney caricatures or Snoopy and the gang, one year we did Buss Lightyear and all of those figures. The wife is a good drawer so she would draw them on plywood and I would cut them out and paint them all white, then she would paint all of them, of course the girls would help with the painting and setting up in the yard. One year I decided to build a Merry-go -round complete with horses and dolls, this thing was about 6 foot across, a friend gave me a washing machine motor with transmission which I geared down to make it turn, I worked on that thing for 2 weeks and when I got it all set up and running, I hit the spin mod and it self distructed, there was plastic horses and dolls all over the yard, I was so mad I loaded in the trash and never attempted that again.

I got the Christmas tree put up in the living room so the wife can start decorating that this week. OOOO I forgot to mention I finshed painting the living room, that may not sound like such a big deal but those walls are 2 storys tall, It takes a lot of nerve to climb up that high and cut in the ceiling. I'll never do that again, when it gets painted next someone else will be doing it while I watch.

I'll try to find some photos of the front yard to post, they are all on my remote hard drive which I don't have access to with this laptop.

  1. The merry-go-round sounded like a great idea, but instead, it should have been shown on National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. I can just see it, funny now but not at the time, right?
