Big trucks and trailers can be fun

My son Keith came back with the pickup this afternoon and had his 24' enclosed trailer hooked up to it. He wants me to pull it to our place at the River when we go on Thursday, that will save him $75.00 month storage and we have plenty of room to park it until he needs it again.

I also have a PT cruiser that I want to park at the River during the Holidays so we loaded it in the trailer and it can go out also, I'll just leave it in the trailer.

Did I ever tell you about loosing a car hauler trailer loaded with 14 railroad ties, could have killed a bunch of people. The wife and I are tooling along listening to some Hank on the radio when a big 18 wheeler pulls up next to me and hits his jake brake, he is holding his CB radio in his hand so I turn on my radio to 19 and he says " You know you lost that trailer back there about 1/2 mile"  The only thing I could think of was to ask him if it went thru the center divider and hit anyone. He said no your a lucky sucker ,it just eased off the right side and went down the imbankment. I thanked him and went back and found it still intact and had pushed a wall of tumble weeds up in front of it, until it stopped. The truck was a 1 ton 4x4 so I just drove down and hooked up and away we went. I learned to never let someone else hook up a trailer with out double checking every thing. And yes you can loose a trailer, break the safty chain and never know it..I think Hank was watching over me.

  1. So that was YOU whose trailer came off and across my lane and ended up in the bar ditch LOL LOL Wife and I were on out motorcycles out in the Alpine Texas area on one of the long open stretches, we saw the trailer come off the truck approaching us and come across out lane and bounce to a stop. We had plenty to time to get stopped but it was interesting to say the least.
