Back from the River

Well we got home yesterday and I got on here and read everyones blogs, then I tried to get on mine but while I was gone the few brain cells that contained the pass word to get into my blog had died. I tried every combination of words I have ever used to no effect, so I quite trying.

Today the wife and I had to go and help a daughter move. we just hauled the small stuff that the 3 of us could load in the 2 pickups. and we made 3 trips about 10 miles one way. we didn't get home until about 8pm, but she did buy dinner at a set down joint.

So tonight I had to go into the system and reset my password to something really secure,,,but I wrote it down on 3 pieces of paper and on the inside page of a good book I have.

On opening day of Dove season my son and I left the house at 415am and drove about 20 miles to a spot that we scouted out earlier in the week. Man there was birds every where. when we got there we couldn't find a spot to park. there was hunters behind every bush sometimes 2 hunters. We drove on down the road about half mile and found a spot. At dawn it sounded like about what you would have heard if you was at Gettysberg. The boy moved out to a dry flood control channel and was doing ok so I headed for a hay stack but it was surrounded by a husband/wife team with 3 teenage boys and a 10 year old with a 20 gage. why they hadn't killed each other in the first 5 min. I don't know, but I got out of there as fast as I could. I went back to the truck and got me a big ol cup of coffee and thanked the good lord for letting me get out alive.
well the rest of the morning went slow but we got our limit of 10 each.

We had about 5 families set up their RV rigs in the back yard none of them are hunters but they all have ski boats. one of the gals brought her father Ray who I have been friends with for 25 years. He moved to Springdale Ark about 12 years ago. so him and I spent the rest of the week setting under a big ol shade tree with some cold ones and got caught up. It was a fine time.

I did not get any fishing done but I must have gone thru 2 bags of hooks and sinkers while I was there. 3 little boys in the group wanted to catch a fish. well I happened to know where the catfish hang out in a deep pool off of a point. we had to have a long talk about not dragging no catfish for a hundred yards on the ground and then want me to take it off the hook and keep it alive. I told them that we catch and release unless their dads want to clean them. They all learned how to bait a hook with a chunk of hotdog and how to get the hook out without getting stabbed. got some great photos with smiling kids.

Tuesday morning I was up at dawn and got the lawns mowed and every thing put away. we were out of there about 1130am it's only about a 4 hour drive home, but the wife had to stop and shop two times. so it was almost dark when we got home. boy did that chair feel good to my back
