Where has time gone

Got back home yesterday about 4:00. It is always nice to get home and relax in your comfortable surroundings.
We arrived at Quartsite,Az on the 15 th of January and set up on Palmosa Rd north of town off of Hwy 95. this is a BLM area with a 14 day limit, but it's free camping, on Sunday several friends joined us and we circled the wagons.

It seemed like the weather gods were smiling at us it would stay dry all day and then rain during the night, the next day we could run around until about dark and then it would start raining again.  Out in the desert you need to pay attention to where you park your rig, over the years I learned to identify higher ground and park there. On Thursday the 25th the sky fell on us and several tornados touched down in Blythe and knocked down 117 power poles which left about half the city and all of the homes along the Colorado River up about 25 miles without power. They didn't get power back on until the following Monday evening. We made a trip to the place at the River and took all of the frozen items and stuff that might spoil with us.

We were at the River a week and got someone to put the water well point in for us, then it took me the rest of the week getting it plumbed.

We joined another group of friends in Palo Verde for a Big BBQ that the city residents put on to support the local historic group. I think some people refer to the event as the Donkey BBQ. They did a deep pit type with beef and pork with all the trimmings, we even bought some left over meat at the end. They had live music afterwards, but it clouded up and started to rain so we headed back to camp.

Super Bowl Sunday we all did snacks and had a big screne TV outside so we had a great time watching the game.

So yesterday we headed home about 10:00, got gas at Flying J for 2.77 a gal and away we went.

While we were at Qsite I bought a Kipor brand !000 watt generator that is a carbon copy of the Honda. several friends have bought them over the last few years and have had good luck with them. The little sucker just purrs along, and provides enough power to run the tv's and  the chargeing system, it runs about 5 hours on a 1/2 gal of gas. The first few days that I had it, I thought that it was working real hard to keep up with the power demands and was kind of disappointed that I didn't get the 2000W unit instead, well about the 3rd day I was getting into the Frig and noticed that the controls on the Frig were set on Auto and the AC lite was on, I turned it to gas and all my worries were gone. That little generator was running the ac side of the frig as well as 2 tv,s and the built-in charging system on the MH. Not to bad for under $500 dollors.

When we left home we had planned to stop by the slabs and visit with Billy Bob but the weather was getting so bad that I didn't want to get stuck there for several days while the lakes dried out. Sorry we missed you BB.

Well I have lots of unloading and cleaning to do so I better get moving, I'll have more to say about the trip later.
