And the beat goes on.

Last week we went to a mobile home we have on the Colo. River. During the warm months we have to go there every couple weeks or so to mow the lawns, about 1/4 acre of grass. while we were there I noticed that the water well was not performing as well as it should, this normally means that the well point is getting plugged up.This condition is corrected by acid washing the well point with pool acid. This well point is over 18 years old and has been cleaned out numerous times. Well this time it burned a hole in the screen on the point and started pumping sand, so now I have to go back with 2 10' pieces of 11/2" galvanized pipe and a new sand point and drive a new well. These type wells are called surface water wells and are less than 24' deep. They provide a lot of water for the house to flush toilets and showers but have a bad taste, our drinking water is delivered in bulk and stored in a 150 gal tank.

The process of driving a well is brute force. attach  a piece of pipe to the sand point and using a driver which is a larger diamiter pipe about 3' long with handles on the side, you us it to slam up and down on the pipe until you have pushed the point down to about 24'. or you us a tractor with a front bucket full of dirt to push the pipe down with, I much prefer this method. So next week some time we will be off to fix the well, in the mean time I have to pick up all of the parts needed.
